What is Counselling?
Counselling involves a safe and confidential collaboration between qualified practitioners and clients to promote mental health and wellbeing, enhance self-understanding, and resolve identified concerns.
Counselling provides individuals who would not typically benefit from standard treatment options provided by their general practitioner or psychologist, access to cost-effective complementary psychological interventions, which are responsive to the individual’s mental health needs.

Counsellors at Tree of Life use evidence-based and effective counselling approaches and interventions, such as Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Expressive Therapy, Mindfulness, Strengths-Based Therapy and Holistic Therapy. In a collaborative therapeutic relationship the client makes therapy goals with the counsellor and discusses a suitable way forward using counselling approaches.
Clients seek counselling for support with issues, such as anxiety, depression, stress, anger, grief and loss, increasing capacity, wellbeing, relationship issues, parenting stress, postnatal depression, suicidal thoughts, feelings of distress, self-harm, family breakdown, school refusal, spiritual/faith development and parenting issues. Clients explore behaviours, emotions, thoughts and underlying beliefs, while gaining strategies and skills for enhanced wellbeing and enlivenment.
